Holi is the festival of colors. Each year it is celebrated with great excitement and joy. It is celebrated all over India with dance, music, colors, waters, sweets and love. This year in 2013, it is going to be celebrated on 27th and 28th March,2013. As we all know that the date of this festival is not fixed and it is celebrated on last full moon of lunar month (Phalgun Purnima). It has a religious significance in Hindu culture as it is celebrated victory of good over bad from ancient times. It is also declared as a public holiday. The first night is Holika Dahan or Choti Holi(which is celebrated by burning wood as burning evil) and the second day is Dhulendi which is celebrated by putting colors on each other.
It is celebrated in different ways in different parts of India. The most famous holi is celebrated in Barsana which is known to be the birth place of Radha where it is celebrated as Lath Mar Holi where women beats up men with a stick. In Mathura and Vrindavan, it is celebrated with special puja where this festival lasts for 16 days. It is also celebrated by drinking Bhang which is considered as prasad of Shivji.
